Florence’s Lowcountry Kitchen

Florence’s Lowcountry Kitchen is a tribute to Florence Powell, the Great Grandmother of Jonathan and Patrick Kish of 82 Queen Restaurant, established in 1982. Florence Moseley was born in 1908 in Charleston, South Carolina. She worked at The American Tobacco Company’s Cigar Factory, where she met and married the plant manager, Jesse Powell. They enjoyed their life in the Lowcountry - crabbing, fishing, visiting the Limehouse Farmers Market on Wappoo Road, and creating delicious home-cooked southern meals. They passed their recipes down to their granddaughter, Tyler Kish, wife to Steve Kish, chef-owner of 82 Queen. Florence and Jesse’s favorite dishes to cook were Crab, Shrimp, Fish, and Fried Chicken & Waffles. Every holiday, Florence would make her famous Granny's Punch.

Henry’s on the Market

Henry’s is centrally located in historic downtown Charleston at 54 North Market Street, across from the Charleston city market. Established in 1932, Henry’s is the oldest continuous restaurant in Charleston and the state of South Carolina.

From 1932 through the 1960’s, Henry’s house was the only place to be in Charleston. “henry’s: famous for seafood” and “In Charleston, it’s henry’s for food” was branded on every menu, postcard, and matchbook in town. The restaurant has undergone many changes throughout the years, and this newest incarnation offers an authentic Lowcountry menu with a modern flair: shrimp and grits, she-crab soup, Carolina cannonballs, and a few twists on the classics. Superb cocktails and desserts compliment your meal perfectly whether seated in our main dining room or enjoying our traditional southern porch and rooftop deck.

Henry’s offers the best of Charleston: a historic, eclectic restaurant and bar featuring live music, a beautiful southern porch and rooftop deck, an exclusive dance lounge, and a classic speakeasy bar. Since 1932, Henry’s is still the place to be. We promise, once you enter our door, you won’t want to leave!
